Aerospace and gas turbine dynamometers

TB dynamometers are specially designed for high-power testing at very high RPM, ideal for turbo-shaft engines, turboprop engines, and helicopter transmission outputs.

The smooth rotor brake absorbs the mechanical power delivered through the friction tension of the water contained in the brake, which is generated between the stator and rotor surfaces of the dynamometric brake. This tension transfers the torque produced by the turbine from the rotor to the stator, which is then quantified through a load cell located between the stator and brake sub-base. This is a cavitation free, low inertia design that delivers a quick response to control load.

The disk profile is constructed in such a way to achieve approximately uniform stress distribution, mainly generated by centrifugal force. The stators are made of cast bronze to minimize damage caused by corrosion. The brake contains angular contact ceramic ball bearings suitable for the turbines speed. The assembly is lubricated using an oil mist system.
